Children Hair Loss Treatment

Children hair treatment is very important to their health as well as their feeling of well-being about looking nice in the presence of their friends. Children's hair goes through different phases of development over time but generally, in younger years, their hair has a different body, texture, density, softness and even color than it will be in adult years. So it takes special types of treatment.

Because the scalp skin of babies has subdued sebaceous gland production because of hormones, and the sebum imparts a protective coating to hair strands, daily washing that removes the sebum will cause an increase in the production of sebum because the skin notices the scalp is lacking sufficient moisture.

Hair loss presents a major problem in children hair treatment. Nearly 2 million chldren just in the United States suffer from hair loss. Although approximately 60% of children will outgrow this condition, sometimes it takes a year or more for reversal and complete restoration.

The 40% that are affected by this embarrrassing hair loss condition are presented with frustration, but there are things that can be done to help such as the following:

(1) Do not excessively brush or comb hair, use brush rollers, pull hair too tightly or have braids or ponytails worn constantly.

(2) Deal with knots and tangles by brushing the hair gently before shampooing and combing it afterwards. Support the hair between your fingers to absorb the tugs that way rather than by the child's scalp, and work the knots out from the ends first. Perhaps use a detangling spray.

(3) Use covered hair bands or "scrunchies" to prevent the hair from being broken off.

(4) If your children swim a lot, watch out for a brittle or straw-like feeling to their hair. This indicates chlorine build-up, so use a special purifying shampoo designed to remove the chlorine and preferably do this within 15 minutes of leaving the pool.

Children hair treatment includes such other tips as: Don't brush very curly hair dry because it will cause even more frizz. There are frizz control hair products for this problem. Also, since curly hair dries out easily, leave-in conditioner should be a help. If you spend time and effort on children hair treatment, the results are well worth it.
