Hair Growth Cycle

The regular cycle of hair growth lasts for two to six and a half years. Each hair grows about one centimeter per month during this process. About ninety percent your hair on your head is getting longer at any one time. About ten percent of the hair on your head is resting. After two to three months, the resting hair comes out and brand new hair starts to grow where the resting hair was.

Hair Growth

It is extremely normal to lose some hair each and every day as part of this process. However, some people may have excessive hair loss, which is not as normal. Hair loss can affect men, women and children. Many things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about three or four months after a sickness or a complicated operation, you may suddenly shed an overly large amount of hair. This hair loss is caused by the stress of the sickness, and it is only temporary.

Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is too active or not active enough, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be fixed by treatments for thyroid disease. Hair loss may happen if male or female hormones are out of balance. Fixing the hormone imbalance may put a stop your hair loss. Many women notice that they start to lose hair around three months after having a baby. This hair loss is also caused by horomones. After all that hair falls out, the normal hair growth cycle starts again. Some medicines like blood thinner can also lead to hair loss to. If you stop taking the medicines your hair should go back to the normal growth cycle. We all know that hair loss is normal and it will happen to us all. If it doesn't happen sooner it will sure happen later.
