Hair loss of insufficient nutrition

Hair Loss Caused by Insufficient Nutrition - Hair Loss Vis-A-Vis Poor Nutrition

There are many reasons a person can lose their hair. The most common are: genetics, age, sickness. An overall healthy individual (whose parents haven't lost hair and who are not old), should not be experiencing hair loss. If they are, there is usually something not quite right in terms of their health. Or, it just could be a case of malnutrition. If the problem is poor nutrition, it should be easily fixable.

Hair Loss and Insufficient Nutrition: Anorexia Nervosa

Probably one of the most common (if not, the most common) links between hair loss and insufficient nutrition is anorexia nervosa. This is condition is an eating disorder, by which the individual has a distorted body image, feeling that he or she is fat or overweight, when in fact the opposite is the case. As a result, the individual will refuse to eat, starve him or herself or somehow get rid of the food they have ingested as a way of continuing to lose weight. Obviously this has severe impacts on the body, and one of these is hair loss.

Repairing Hair Loss Through Improved Nutrition

Fortunately, if one is suffering from anorexia nervosa and one of the symptoms is hair loss, it is very treatable, should the patient want to be helped. Once the sufferer understands his or her illness and is able to resume a more healthy eating pattern, the body will become healthier and he or she will start to regain the hair where it has been lost. As well, other health issues will start to improve. But proper nutrition is essential.

Other Hair Loss Solutions

Sometimes one may start experiencing hair loss due to poor nutrition, but not as a direct result of their diet. Perhaps they have been sick for a while and are vomiting a lot and this would deplete the body of the necessary nutrients for healthy hair. In this case rosemary oil has been said to have been of help and other forms of alternative medicine or care should be tried to bring essential nutrients back to the body. The most important thing to remember is that the body needs to be fueled with proper nutrition for it to function well, and this includes the hair as well.
