Hair Loss Cure
Finding a Hair Loss Cure
Losing one's hair can not only be psychologically difficult, but may also be a sign of other possibly serious medical condition, so finding a hair loss cure can be important.
The first step to finding a hair loss cure is to determine the reason for the hair loss. Alopecia, the medical term for hair loss, may be caused by numerous things, some temporary and some permanent.
Some temporary reasons for hair loss may be local fungal infections of the scalp, systemic infections, various cancers, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, psychological or physical stress, or other factors. When finding a hair loss cure for these, the underlying condition must be treated. In the case of local infection, antifungal or other topical creams may be used. With systemic infections, antibiotic or other antimicrobial medications may be needed to cure the infection before the hair will return to normal. Thyroid or other hormonal imbalances may be treated with hormonal therapy or possibly a change in diet or lifestyle to bring about a hair loss cure. Psychological and physical stress may be treated by finding the cause of the problem and providing medication, therapy, etc. Overall, with these types of problems, treating the underlying condition will likely provide a hair loss cure.
One of the most common reasons for hair loss is pattern baldness, which can occur in both males and females. If this is determined to be the cause of hair loss, a hair loss cure may be found using medications or surgical options.
Medication can include minoxidil(Rogaine), finasteride(Propecia), corticosteroid injections, anthralin, or certain herbal or alternative remedies. Rogaine and Propecia are two of the most popular medications for a hair loss cure. Rogaine is a topical over-the-counter medicine that works to provide a hair loss cure by helping to enlarge hair follicles and helping to turn around the follicle miniaturization that occurs in pattern baldness. Propecia is a prescription drug in pill form that helps to regulate DHT, an important hormone involved in male pattern baldness. Propecia is not approved for women and the pills should not even be handled by women.
Surgical hair transplants are probably the most popular surgical options for a hair loss cure. Unlike the hair transplants from recent past years, today's hair transplants are much more effective and unnoticeable.
