Femal Hairloss Treatment
Female hair loss can be devastating for any woman, but luckily there are many treatments available for female hair loss than can prevent more loss or even help hair to regrow.
Hair loss in women occurs because of a variety of reasons including chemicals introduced into the body like chemotherapy treatments and the amount of estrogen in a woman's body. Often times, when a woman is going through menopause, estrogen levels drop, causing hair loss. Some physicians may choose to treat female hair loss with estrogen like an oral contraceptive to regrow hair. This form of treatment is sometimes administered orally or can sometimes be applied directly to the scalp.
There are various female hair loss treatments depending on the reason for hair loss. Alopecia areata in women is associated with an immune deficiency and can appear as patches of hair loss, which for most women, will grow back in time. The chronic form of Alopecia areata affects the whole body with body hair included. It not only affects women but men and children as well. In these cases, the treatment might include what is known as immunomodulating therapy. A more common form of this treatment is Minoxidil - a biologic response modifier. Other treatments for this type of hair loss includes topical immunotherapy such as anthralin.
Female hair loss treatment should begin immediately because once hair loss begins in many cases some of the hair follicles are destroyed forever and treatment can retard more damage and hopefully stimulate the growth of new hair in hair follicles. In most cases, once a female hair loss treatment has started, it must be maintained in order to prevent further hair loss.
As noted, Minoxidil or Rogaine is one effective female hair loss treatment. At least, many females have reported that they have had quite good results with this female hair loss treatment. It must, however, be noted that results can vary. Minoxidil seems to work because it designed to work not only stopping hair loss but helping hair regrow. IT is applied to the scalp and absorbed through the skin, going directly to the bloodstream. It is safe because only a small amount enters the bloodstream; therefore, there are no dangerous side effects. Also, female hair loss treatment with this medication is less for a woman than it is for a man - 2% concentration for women -- 5% for men because of its content.
